Funding & Fees

Funding Options

At The Travelling Speechie Aus, I provide a range of therapy services. You can access my services through your NDIS funding package. These services are also eligible for rebates through a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) and Private Health insurance rebates (extras cover).

Medicare

You can get a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) by getting a referral from your GP. It allows you to access up to 5 sessions per calendar year where Medicare will cover part of the fee. You must have this in place before your first appointment in order to claim the rebate.

Please note, if accessing services via Medicare, the fee will need to be paid in full at the time of your service and you can claim your rebate back through Medicare.

For further information on this, please ask your GP or look here.

Private Health Insurance

You may be able to access Speech Pathology services through your Private Health insurance. Your eligibility and claimable amount will depend on the type of cover you have. Please contact your chosen insurer to further understand your level of cover and accessibility (e.g. waiting periods may apply).

Please note, if choosing to use your private health insurance, the fee will need to be paid in full at the time of your service. You can then claim your rebate back through your private health provider.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

I am able to provide support to self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants under Therapy supports or Early Childhood Supports. I am not able to provide supports to agency-managed clients as The Travelling Speechie Aus is not currently a registered provider through NDIS.

To find out more about NDIS, please check out their website.

Fees

I charge an hourly rate of $260 across all my services (assessment, therapy, letters/reports and any other consultations/meetings). You will be informed of any charges that apply in addition to these, no additional services will be completed without your consent.

My fees are inline with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (rural) as indicated in the pricing agreement 2023-24.

Appointments

Intake appointment - $130

Intake appointments are 30 minutes. This session is when I meet with you (caregiver/s only) to further discuss the information you shared with me on the initial phone call, as well as the completed case history forms (sent to you after the initial phone call). You will only need to complete one intake appointment per child.

Assessment sessions - $260

Assessment sessions will be delivered in 60 minute blocks. At times, more than one appointment is required to complete the necessary assessments. The number of sessions it may take will be discussed with you before we complete any assessments.

Therapy sessions - $260

Therapy will typically be 60 minutes in total. This consists of 45-50 minutes of therapy and 10 minutes towards mandatory record keeping requirements.

Reports and Documentation

Reports are an additional cost to assessment and therapy sessions. These are also charged at the hourly rate. The most common reports are assessment reports and progress reports.

Assessment Reports - $520

An in-depth assessment report provides details on the outcomes of the assessment, my recommendations and some strategies to help your child at school. This is optional but recommended so you are able to share the results with your child’s team.

These reports are quite comprehensive and are billed in two 60 minute appointments.

Progress Reports - $520

These reports are often required by NDIS to document progress towards the goals we established. NDIS progress reports will be billed in two 60 minute appointments. Other non-NDIS reports are billed at the hourly rate.

Other Documentation

Any other documentation requested will be billed in 15 minute intervals at my hourly rate of $260. I only charge the time it takes to complete. These documents may include:

  • Letters of support

  • Home or school programs

  • Creation of resources specifically for your child

  • Completion of relevant Centrelink forms (e.g. carer payment)

Travel

I do not charge a travel fee within the Karratha township. If you are outside of this area, travel fees are $100 per hour. It is calculated by the time it takes to travel times the hourly rate. If seeing a number of clients within your area, this fee will be split evenly between you.
